PLANT CITY
COLLEGE TOUR
PROMOTING HIGHER EDUCATION!
We believe in the power of education to help young men and women become flourishing and prosperous adults. Sadly, in the state of Texas an alarming 22% of high school students fail to graduate and minority students are two times more likely to leave school before graduating!
At THC, we believe that exposing students to the options available to them after they graduate can and does serve as a motivating factor to complete high school. This is why our Plant City students are invited each year to join us on college road trips and an annual college tour. Through these adventures, we're able to achieve our objective of enriching students' prospectives on collegiate academic opportunities, facilities, student life and culture. For this year's college tour...
...WE'RE HEADED TO LOS ANGELES!
This October, we're flying to the west coast to expose our students to a variety of colleges and universities, such as:
-
Pepperdine University
-
California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech)
-
Stanford University
-
University of South California
-
Charles R. Drew University

QUESTIONS + ANSWERS
WHEN IS THE TRIP?
The group leaves on Thursday, October 8, 2020 and returns on Columbus Day, which is Monday, October 12, 2020.
HOW MUCH IS THE TRIP + WHO PAYS FOR IT?
The cost for this college tour is $1,250 per person. This covers the flight, rental vans, housing, morning breakfast, the etiquette dinner and all activities. Without sponsorship, each student and chaperone is responsible for paying the full cost of their trip by the end of July 2020.
WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL THE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN?
In between the tours of the college and university campuses, the group will enjoy common Los Angeles attractions such as Hollywood Boulevard, Santa Monica Pier, Griffith Observatory and Universal Studios. Local eateries exclusive to the city are on the list to visit and a trip will be made on Sunday morning to a local church with a teen worship experience.
On Friday evening, students will participate in an etiquette dinner at a high-end restaurant to practice key social skills that the students will need during college and/or in future careers. During morning breakfasts and evening dinners, the chaperones will lead the students in conversations about academics, desired career paths, interest in campuses visited and overall outlooks on the future.
HOW ARE DONATIONS HANDLED?
Donations will be applied to the overall costs of the trip evenly across students and chaperones unless specific instructions are provided by the donor. To designate your donations to the account of a particular student, chaperone, expense or activity, simply email plantcity@thcconnects.com once your donation is complete with your instructions.
WHO IS GOING ON THIS COLLEGE TOUR?
For privacy reasons, we are not allowed to disclose the names of the 12 students participating in this college tour, however, we are proud to announce the names of our chaperones. Each chaperone is a long-time member and leader at THC and have each attended multiple Plant City road trips and college tours.
