...and thank you for being a vital part of how we are able to connect intimately with our THC family in the midst of the uncertainty in our nation. The more we are able to connect with our members, the better we can help them transform a difficult year into the one of victory, even when we're physically apart.

Here you will find links designed to answer your key questions, such as how to use groups, how to use Zoom and other frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn't already covered on this page, simply use the form at the bottom to submit it to our team so the page can be updated.

WHERE DO I GO FOR MORE TRAINING?

Planning Center Groups and Zoom Video Conferencing have both created extensive training resources to help answer common questions on how to use their products. You can access all of the trainings at the following links:

For easy reference, here are some specific trainings that you may find helpful based on how we are using both platforms.

PLANNING CENTER GROUPS

How to take attendance: Please remember to take attendance for each of your weekly sessions so that we can track participation and you can easily see who in your group needs some extra outreach.

How to add or remove group members: Remember, you will only be adding people who have requested to join your group, so you can "Jump to" the section titled "Accept or Reject Membership Requests."

How to contact group members individually and collectively.

How to create, edit or delete an event: You will only need to create the events for your weekly sessions after your group has voted on the day and time during the Week #1 session.

ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING

How to schedule your weekly sessions in Zoom: Once your team has decided on a weekly meeting date and time, you have the option to schedule the sessions in Zoom using your Personal Meeting ID. Don't forget to turn OFF the password feature and to turn ON your meeting notifications.

How to join the Zoom session: This may be a helpful link to share with your group members.

How to use the Meeting Controls in the Zoom session: Don't forget to mute your group members during the video lesson or to help cut out excessive ambient noise when someone it talking during the group discussions. You can also leverage the polling feature to vote on the weekly meeting date and time.

How to share your screen: You will need to share your screen so that all of your group members can see and hear the video lesson.

DO I NEED TO BE AN EXPERT ON THE LESSON CONTENT?

No, you are not expected to be an expert on what is being discussed in each weekly lesson. Your role is to communicate with the team members, control the weekly sessions and facilitate the group discussions. If it will make you feel more comfortable, you are free to watch the lesson videos in advance, but that is not required.

IS IT OKAY IF THE SESSIONS DOESN'T LAST FOR 75 MINUTES?

Yes, its okay if the session ends early as long as all the points of the agenda have been hit and the discussion has been interactive. To effectively complete all parts of the agenda, we estimate that it will require at least 45 minutes. If you are struggling to get to or past the 45 minute mark, please reach out to your Support Contact to see how the interactive parts of the agenda can be improved.

CAN THE PARTICIPANTS SEE EACH OTHER?

Yes, all participants have the ability to see each person in the session that has their camera turned on, however, whether they actually see everyone depends on their selected view. The primary views are "Active Speaker View", "Gallery View" and "Mini View." Only those who select "Gallery View" will be able to see all session participants at once (up to 25 people).
